🌱 The Seed
During the New Moon, something germinates underground before it surfaces.
This New Moon happens at 22° Cancer and unfolds over several days, from about July 14–17.
Like a seed beneath the soil, it carries the symbolic theme that will continue unfolding throughout this moon cycle.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon:
“A young woman awaiting a sailboat.” ⛵️
It’s about longing.
Not the longing born of lack,
but the anticipation that something meaningful is on its way.
It’s also about being in the right place at the right time.
The young woman has reached the limits of what her familiar social environment offers.
And so she waits.
Patiently.
With equanimity.
She doesn’t swim out to the boat.
She doesn’t build a faster boat.
She doesn’t signal frantically from ashore.
She waits.
Not passively, but receptively.
Open to what is approaching from beyond the horizon.
The sailboat is carried by the wind.
Something beyond our control participates in its arrival.
Psychologically, the sailboat suggests that something long carried in the unconscious is approaching consciousness.
An image.
A feeling.
A desire.
A possibility.
Something once distant is drawing nearer, ready to enter conscious awareness.
What we're longing for may not arrive with fireworks or fanfare.
It may first appear as a subtle knowing.
A subtle feeling.
An unexpected invitation.
A realization that we've become ready for something our earlier self could never have received.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do is become the person who can recognize what we've been waiting for.
And when it arrives,
allow ourselves
to receive.
🥀 Shadow of Impatience
Like every symbol, this one has a shadow.
Waiting can become uncomfortable.
Delays can feel frustrating.
We begin to wonder whether the sailboat is coming at all.
When we lose patience, we often move in one of two directions.
We reach.
Trying to force what isn't ready.
Or we give up.
Settling for what no longer nourishes us.
Both responses arise from the same place:
forgetting that readiness and timing matter.
This symbol invites another possibility.
To remain poised.
To trust our longing without trying to control its timing.
To recognize that we cannot rush the wind.
We can only become ready to recognize what it carries.

🕯️ Tiny Ritual for Receptivity
You’ll need:
a candle
a journal or a piece of paper
a pen
Begin by lighting the candle.
Consider the area of your life being activated by this New Moon.
Review your reflections, journal entries, or tarot cards from this moon phase.
If you can, step outside or open a window.
Feel the wind on your skin.
Take three slow breaths.
Imagine yourself standing at the edge of the sea.
The horizon is wide.
The wind is moving.
You don't know exactly what the sailboat carries.
You only know that you're willing to recognize it when it arrives.
Then ask yourself:
✨ What am I becoming ready to receive?
Take a few moments to notice what arises.
Without trying to solve it.
Without trying to reach for it.
Simply notice.
Write down whatever word, phrase, or image arises.
Fold the paper and place it somewhere meaningful.
Trust that it doesn't need to make sense just yet.
Allow it to rest there until the Full Moon.
Sit quietly for a few moments.
Notice the movement of the air around you.
Even if the air is still, remember that the currents continue beyond what you can see.
When you're ready, extinguish the candle.
After the Full Moon, you could take out your notes and reflect:
✨ What arrived that I hadn't expected?
✨ What did I recognize that I might have overlooked before?
✨ Where did I receive rather than reach?
✨ What new layers of my intention were revealed?
